About Me

My name is Michael Lacidonia and I am a Licensed and Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist with a Masters degree in Acupuncture from Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine, where I studied acupuncture, herbal medicine, tuina massage, cupping, and traditional Chinese medicine theory and practice. I am originally from New Jersey, but have traveled extensively worldwide and lived in China for more than 9 years where I worked and continued my studies of traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts. I stay active and lead an active lifestyle that includes lots of exercise and a healthy diet.

Why I become a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine:

I have been fascinated with Asian culture since I was in elementary school and a teacher of mine spoke extensively about China. My fascination was further fueled by watching martial arts films-especially those of Bruce Lee. When I got older and started practicing martial arts on my own I was encouraged by my teacher to learn about traditional Chinese medicine in order to further my understanding of the arts. This led me to start reading on my own and then later to attend a formal program of study in order to become a Chinese medicine practitioner and also to learn how to treat my own injuries and maintain my health.

About: About

My Practice

I specialize in treating chronic and acute pain such as back pain, fibromyalgia and plantar fasciitis, trauma, athletic injuries, stress, and digestive disturbances like IBS, but welcome patients with any health issue to seek treatment at my clinic. It is also my belief that traditional Chinese medicine really shines as part of a health maintenance program. Some of the therapies I utilize are acupuncture, tuina massage, cupping, herbal medicine, guasha, and qigong energy healing.
